About The FORD FUSION

The Ford Fusion was introduced to the North American market in 2005. It is classified as a mid-sized vehicle in the North American. The Ford Fusion had previously been available in Europe and India since 2002, but has a stretched body style similar to that of the Ford Fiesta supermini. The Ford Fusion shares a platform with the Mazda 6 and Ford Edge crossovers, as well as the Mercury Milan and the Lincoln MKZ sedans. The Ford Fusion temporarily replaced the mid-sized Taurus in the North American Market and overtook the Ford Mondeo in the Latin American Markets (with the exclusion of Argentina). Considering the Ford Fusion’s size, it currently appears in the Ford line between the Ford Focus and the Ford Taurus. The Ford Fusion is currently in its second generation.

Upon its introduction in 2005, the Ford Fusion was available in three trim levels. The Ford Fusion base model is equipped with a 2.3L, 160hp engine with either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. SE and SEL upgraded to a 3.0 L, 221hp engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. In 2007, the Ford Fusion line added the option for four-wheel drive on the V6 model.

In 2008, a tire-pressure monitoring system and an anti-lock brake system began to be included as standard equipment on all Ford Fusions. Ford has also introduced SYNC at this time, which became an option for the Ford Fusion. Other add-on packages for the Ford Fusion included a voice commanded navigation system and ambient interior lighting. The Sport Appearance and Moon and Tune packages became available on the 2008 Ford Fusion models. The Ford Fusion 2009 model saw the addition of the electronic stability control system as an option.

The Ford Fusion was updated in 2009, for the second generation models beginning in 2010. The engines on the Ford Fusion were upgraded to a 2.5L, 175hp engine and a 3.5L, 263hp engine. Options included on the new Ford Fusion model consist of the addition of a new navigation control system with an enlarged screen and ice blue illumination for the control area, which has become signature for the Ford line. The new generation of the Ford Fusion also saw the addition of the Sport trim level. The new Ford Fusion Sport comes standard with spoilers, sport suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid was announced at the 2005 North American International Auto Show and became available to the North American market in mid-2009. The Ford Fusion Hybrid combines a 2.5L, four-cylindar gas engine with a 275 V NiMH battery. The Ford Fusion Hybrid model features regenerative breaking technology and run at between 2mph and 47mph solely utilizing battery power.
