Pete is still active in the business, you can often spot him moving cars in the yard on our "Green Machine, " an army-green loader that worked on an aircraft carrier before it got a job at Pete's. "Owning and operating Pete's Auto Parts is all I've ever wanted to do" says Ron Elenbaas, Pete's son. Ron's dreams came true, and now he has grown the business substantially. He's taken the yard from index cards to an advanced computer system, we now employ 15 hard working employees, we have a large next day delivery range, and much more. Now Ron buys cars with a computer screen that looks like a big screen T.V. and a passion for scooping up the best deals and hottest new cars. Motley Cat Studios So why have these strict cutoff times and time frames? Pete's Auto will deliver, ship, or prepare for pickup a clean, inspected part every time you order. We would not be able to give you the level of quality you've come to expect if we didn't reserve time to go through all the steps of preparation. Our shipping team really works together to get the part into your hands, and we want to make sure it is the right part, that it's described correctly, and that it's there on time. Before a part gets to you, here is what happens behind the scenes: Our parts puller inspects the part. He pulls the part only if the part matches the description in the computer if it is supposed to be a perfect fender, he only pulls a perfect fender. If the part should have one hour of damage and it has two, he'll report the extra damage and wait for the go-ahead to pull it if you still want it with the damage. Once the parts puller brings the part up in his pickup truck, he carefully unloads it into the wash bay, and turns the paperwork over to the shipping manager. The shipping manager and the two shipping assistants power wash every piece of sheet metal, every engine, transmission, transfercase well they like to use the power washer, so they'll spray down anything they can. Don't worry, they won't blast your door mirror, we have Windex for that but come to Pete's on a hot day and you may be in trouble. After thoroughly clean, your part will be placed under bright lights for a second inspection. If it passes, it will go to the staging area. If not, we'll give you a call and see if you still want it. Delivery parts are kept in one area, and once they are loaded on a Pete's truck, ready to go, they are inspected a third time by the shipping manager. UPS parts are placed on a designated bench, inspected a third time by an assistant, wrapped in bubble wrap, boxed, and shipped. Freight parts are banded to a skid, inspected by an assistant, covered in black shrink wrap, and the packaging is inspected for soundness by the shipping manager. Customer pickup parts are placed in designated bins and racks. They are inspected for the last time with you, when you come to pick up your part, so you can see the part and make sure it is exactly what you need.
